CPD: NEC3 ECC – Understanding Key Objectives, Clauses and Contract Preparation.

Description

This seminar will give an overview of the background and philosophy of NEC3 suite of contracts and an outline the various contracts under the NEC3 suite of contracts. Of these, the CPD will primarily focus on the Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC). To this end, key to the session is a close examination of the ECC Core Clauses, the Main options and the Secondary options. The CPD will also examine the contract documents that need to be produced at tender, namely the Contract Data, Works Information and Site Information.

The CPD is suitable for both first-time users and those that have a little more experience with the contract but want to develop their knowledge of the contract further as it will give a foundation to the contract and build on this foundation to look at the more complex issues of the contract. It is suitable for all those involved with the ECC including Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, consultants, contractors and their supply chain.

Course Aims & Objectives

The aim of the CPD is to give delegates understanding of NEC3 ECC contract, how it works, how to put it together and how its key principles can be effectively implemented to achieve the contract objectives.

By the end of the session, the objective is that delegates should:
• Appreciate the philosophy and objectives of the NEC suite of contracts
• Understand the key parties to the contract and their roles
• Understand the important ECC clauses and processes, including the Early Warning, Compensation Events, Programme, Payment and Defects mechanisms
• Be able to prepare required tender documents
