CSCS is withdrawing its Certificates of Commitment with immediate effect.
CSCS Chief Executive Graham Wren says:
“Certificates were introduced in the early days of the scheme aimed at those companies who had high numbers of their workforce holding CSCS cards. However, through a number of surveys we know that a high percentage of the workforce is holding the wrong card for the job they carry out. CSCS was established to certificate construction site workers through their training and qualifications. The scheme is not about quantity i.e the number of cards on site. It is about quality, having an appropriately trained andqualified workforce. Issuing certificates on the basis of card numbers is no longer appropriate.”
Current CSCS Certificates of Commitment remain valid until their expiry date and applications already submitted will be honoured.
