CSCS Raises Standards

CSCS Raises Standards

From 1st July 2014 the green Construction Site Operative (CSO) will no longer be issued.

If you have a CSCS green CSO card that expires after 1st July 2014 you need to know what to do when it is time to renew your card.  The information below explains which CSCS cards are available depending on the type of work you carry out and/or the qualifications you have achieved.

If you do not work in a Labouring occupation use the CSCS cardfinder to find out which is the right card for you.

If you work in a Labouring occupation and want to apply for the new green Labourer card you will need to:

1. Pass the Health and Safety in a Construction Environment level 1 qualification*

2. Pass the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment test within two years of applying for a new card. You can find out more about the test here.

*Health and Safety in a Construction Environment level 1 qualification

This qualification was developed by industry in partnership with CITB.  The amount of training needed to prepare candidates for this qualification will depend on their existing knowledge and experience of working on construction sites.

To find out how to take this qualification contact your local college of further education, training centre or Jobcentre Plus. They will advise you about training and assessment availability, pricing and whether funding is available.
